The 2022 Coastal Carolina Pro Day will allow some of their most talented NFL Draft prospects to continue their ascension in this class. When is the Coastal Carolina Pro Day, who should you be watching out for, and what can we expect?
When is the Coastal Carolina Pro Day in 2022?
- Date: Friday, March 18
- Time: 1:15 PM ET
Coastal Carolina‘s NFL Draft prospects will have the opportunity to display their potential for scouts at the Chanticleers Pro Day on Friday, March 18. A late announcement to the pro day schedule, the opportunity for Coastal Carolina players starts at 1:15 PM ET. Last year, the Coastal Carolina Pro Day was held at Marrio and Josh Norman Field House and at Brooks Stadium, the home of the Chanticleers.
Top Coastal Carolina NFL Draft prospects working out at pro day
Just seven players have been selected from Coastal Carolina in the NFL Draft. Last year, Tarron Jackson became the first defensive player to hear his name called since Josh Norman’s fifth-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. However, this year, the program has a legitimate chance of having multiple players selected for the first time since 2014.
Furthermore, the Chanticleers could provide three NFL Draft selections for the first time in the program’s history. In tight end Isaiah Likely, they also have a potential Day 2 choice, a feat not achieved since Jerome Simpson was a second-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008. The athletic tight end headlines a group of players that you should be paying close attention to at the Coastal Carolina Pro Day.
Isaiah Likely, TE
Likely led all NFL Draft-eligible tight ends with 12 touchdowns in the 2021 college football season. Additionally, he finished second amongst NFL-bound players at the position with 912 receiving yards. A phenomenal uptick in college production has caught the attention of NFL scouts, but his athletic profile is what makes Likely an alluring NFL prospect.
His explosive ability was on display at the NFL Combine. Likely led all tight ends with a vertical jump of 36″. Having not competed in the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis, the Coastal Carolina Pro Day will give one of the premier tight ends in the class the opportunity to showcase his straight-line speed.
Jaivon Heiligh, WR
Coastal Carolina wide receiver Jaivon Heiligh was a surprise snub from the NFL Combine. He’s averaged over 1,000 yards per season over the last two years. Furthermore, Heiligh has averaged 16.3 yards per catch in that time.
Production isn’t everything, but the Chanticleers pass catcher is a tall, long, prospect who possesses great catch radius and long speed, with a twitchy ability to his game. I would expect him to test well at the Coastal Carolina Pro Day, with a subsequent review of his stock from draft analysts.
Jeffrey Gunter, EDGE
One of the more underrated prospects in a deep EDGE class, Jeffrey Gunter delivered an impressive performance at the NFL Combine. He finished in the top 10 among defensive end prospects in multiple testing metrics. Meanwhile, Gunter posted a better shuttle time than highly rated Michigan pass rusher David Ojabo. Look for Gunter to keep building on that performance at the Coastal Carolina Pro Day.
