The 26-year-old Bangladesh National Cricket Team middle-order batsman Yasir Ali Chowdhury has been ruled out of the limited-overs series against West Indies National Cricket Team after failing to recover from a back injury.
The Bangladesh National Cricket Team batter had suffered a back injury on the first day of the three-day warm-up match against the Cricket West Indies President XI in Antigua on June 10.
A subsequent MRI scan revealed Discogenic Back Pain on the Lumbar spine and the Yasir Ali Chowdhury was expected to take part in the white-ball series against West Indies.
However, on Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed that Yasir will not be able to recover in time and as a result, he will miss the entire One Day International and T20 International series against the West Indies National Cricket Team.
Yasir Ali has not been recovering as anticipated – Bangladesh physio
Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam said that Yasir Ali Chowdhury has not been recovering from a back injury as anticipated and his injury time has been extended.
“Yasir Ali has not been recovering as anticipated from his back injury and could not start his rehab. As he is still restricted in his physical work after nearly two weeks of rest, we can conclude that his injury time will be extended.
“He will be missing the remaining matches and is therefore out of the West Indies series,” Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam said in a statement on Wednesday as reported by Cricbuzz.
Yasir Ali Chowdhury is all set to return to Bangladesh and he will continue his recovery under the supervision of the BCB Medical Team. So far the Bangladesh Cricket Board has not named his replacement for the white-ball series.
