At the WTA Finals in 2019, Halep claimed a tight 3-6 7-6 (6) 6-3 win over Andreescu. In that match, Andreescu missed out on a match point and the Canadian still remembers that match. On Friday, Andreescu admits she will be extremely motivated to get her revenge against Halep.

“I definitely want to get my revenge,” Andreescu said. “Having match point & screwing that up. I think about that a couple times a month, honestly. Whenever I see her that’s all I think about.”

This week, 22-year-old Andreescu is making her debut on the grass courts of Bad Homburg.
