Hacjivah Dayimani has finally brought a halt to his lengthy celebrations following last Saturday’s URC title win by the Stormers. The 24-year-old back-rower played 74 minutes as the starting openside in the showpiece final victory against the Bulls and has since kept fans engaged on social media with his drinking exploits across Cape Town while still wearing his team’s kit and with his winner’s medal still wrapped proudly around his neck.

The effervescent Dayimani even shared a beer with the city’s mayor at one stage but he has now tweeted on Thursday lunchtime that his celebrations were over, apologising to Stormers fans for not making to make it to the end of the week.
He wrote: “I’ve failed you guys!!! I won’t make it to day 7. I doubt it’s possible for anyone to do it. Thanks everyone for being part of the journey. It’s time to get into pre-season mode and start firing again!!!”

It was at the Lions where Dayimani first made his rugby breakthrough, making a Currie Cup debut in 2017 and then going on to play in their 2018 Super Rugby campaign. The then-No8 played a number of further seasons for the Johannesburg club before making the switch to play 2021 Currie Cup with Western Province.
However, it was during his maiden URC campaign for the Stormers where he made the most lasting impression in his career so far, switching to play flanker in March and starting in 13 of his 16 appearances through to last weekend’s 18-13 win in the all-South African final against the Bulls.
You’ve been a star all the way – well done for keeping us all smiling! ??????
