Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas reveals he feels Mark Philippoussis has “good values as a person” and revealed the 2003 Wimbledon finalist used to give him some advice and tips in the past. Philippoussis, a retired Australian tennis player of Greek and Italian descent, was once considered as one of the most talented players on the Tour but he never won a Grand Slam or reached the top spot.

However, Philippoussis still enjoyed a very notable career as he was a two-time Grand Slam finalist and was once eighth-ranked player in the world. “We’ve been collaborating in the past a little bit. He’s a good friend of ours.

We also speak the same language. I think there’s good connection with him, which matters a lot. Not only on the tennis court, but I think he has good values as a person,” Tsitsipas said of Philippoussis, per Ravi Ubha.

On Thursday, Tsitsipas cruised past Jordan Thompson 6-2 6-3 7-5 to progress into the third round. After the match, Tsitsipas gave the crowd to the British crowd for showing him support. “It was a great match today.

I got the crowd involved and even though I am not a Brit, I really felt the love from the crowd and that pushed me,” Tsitsipas said. “Last year was a completely different story [compared] to this year. I wasn’t really that involved with [my movement] behind the ball.

It is great to see that evolution this year. I feel grass suites my game perfectly. I am happy when I see the level of tennis I played today. As long as everything works, I am happy to see where that will lead me”. Tsitsipas is now set for a really tough task as he plays next grass court specialist Nick Kyrgios.

Tsitsipas was beaten by Kyrgios in Halle two weeks ago and the Greek will certainly be extremely motivated to get a revenge.
