The first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be revealed during the upcoming Pokémon World Championships in London. The most recent Pokémon TCG set is the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield – Lost Origin set, which is already available in Japan and is set to receive an English language release on September 9, with cards that involve the Lost Zone mechanic, which is similar to exiling in similar trading card games, as it involves taking cards out of the game without discarding them.

The current era of the Pokémon TCG is dealing with the content from the Gen 8 games, which means the cards are based on concepts and Pokémon from Pokémon Sword and ShieldPokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This means that there are cards dealing with things like Dynamaxing, Gigantamaxing, and Hisuian forms for existing Pokémon. There’s a good chance that the upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield Lost Origin set will be the last one based on the Gen 8 games, as the Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet titles are arriving at the end of the year.

It seems that The Pokémon Company is gearing up for the first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet set for the Pokémon TCG. According to the official Pokémon World Championship website (as spotted by Serebii on Twitter), the upcoming Pokémon World Championship event in London will feature the first look at cards based on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. There’s currently no word regarding a release date for any Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Pokémon TCG sets, but the games will launch on November 18, 2022.

There’s a good chance that the cards revealed will involve the three Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starter Pokémon, along with a teaser for the Legendary Pokémon of the Paldea region. It’s also possible that the Pokémon TCG equivalent to the Terastallizing mechanic will be shown. In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it’s possible for the player to use the Terasttalize mechanic on their Pokémon, which gives them a crystalline appearance, gives them an additional type, and boosts the power of that type. It’s easy to imagine how this will work in the Pokémon TCG, as it will probably offer a range of new types for existing Pokémon, along with some pretty foil effects.

The Pokémon Company has only revealed a handful of Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to date, so there isn’t much that can be shown of the set, barring lots of Terrastallizing variants for existing Pokémon. The teaser can at least offer a look at the first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet set for the game and possibly show players how the new mechanic from the games will work. Fans won’t have to wait long to find out, as the Pokémon World Championships are only a few weeks away.
