Bianca Andreescu speaks about her Grand Slam win at press conference
I was blocking out the noise while trying to. I could barely hear my hear myself think really. It was really really loud, but I guess that’s what makes this tournament so special, I’m sure it’s really nice for the gherkins to come on that cord. I mean I’ve heard a lot of cheering from other people from for me, so I’m really happy with that, but it definitely wasn’t easy, especially. She started coming back in the second set. I know she expected she’s a champion and that’s what Champions do and she’s done that many many times throughout her career, but I just try Tuesday as composed as I could it’s hard to just block everything out. But I think I did a pretty good job at that. I was feeling many many things before the match more than any other match in the finals playing Sarina, so I just tried to breathe as much as I could from the more the moment. I woke up until the match and I tried to just do that to just keep my nerves and place. It wasn’t easy at all, but I think that’s why I’ve been doing really well throughout this whole year. The game plan right from the start was to make her work for every ball and to get as many returns in the court is possible. She was intimidated a little bit by it. What happened? I don’t completely remember what happened but actually didn’t yeah. I don’t think I watch the final actually just watch them highlights this morning, so I know what to expect a little bit because I know, and I only played in a really good match. So I kind of tried to just get to that level. Today was at home, I was injured. I was sitting on my butt with Serena. Sorry, can you say that again, I think there are some similarities. We like to keep the points short with our aggressive game style we like to use our serve to our advantage. Really really hard. At the same time, I want to make a name for myself. I know I have a different game styles in many players on the tour right now, and it’s been really I’m working really really well. I’Ve been working to my advantage, so I just want to keep improving it. This wasn’t the only time I visualized play in the finals actually again Serena Williams. I it’s so crazy. Jasmine Ivan dreaming of this moment for the longest time, like I said after I won on the Orange Bowl a couple months after. I really believe that I could be at this stage and since then, honestly, I’ve been visualizing at almost every single day, so free free to become a reality is just so crazy. I guess these visualizations real I’m good continue. Now, I’m good the second. I told myself to put the goddamn ball inside the court, I’m just as much as I could, because she was serving. First of all, I wanted to win the first point to show her that I am in It to Win It, but yeah. The game plan right from the start of the match was to make her play and to just make her work for every ball, and I’m just really high with how I execute it’s, because I think that’s why I did the whole entire match. Where were you when moment in Canada? What is happening to you? I said this many many times before and I’m going to say it again. It’S been a goal of mine too Inspire many people, especially Canadian athletes. I think that this win will hopefully do that. Not only this wind, but what I have accomplished this past year, because so many Canadian athletes have paved the way for me when I was young and hopefully I can be that person to them. You sound very selfish word. No, I don’t think I was ever as composed as I am now or even a year ago. I would get really down on myself and I would get negative thoughts going through my mind: I’d smash Rockets. I just yell at myself matches actually not even even during practice too, but I found that that way wasn’t working to my advantage at all, and so I started seeing I started taking some advice from other people and ever since then I’ve been trying to have a Very positive outlook on everything really been helping me even in tough situations yeah. I did that this morning. I’Ve been doing that this whole tournament, and I just I put myself in situations he’s right. Sayings can happen in a match. Basically – and I just find ways to deal with that, so I’m prepared for anything that comes my way, because I think your biggest weapon to be as prepared as you can. So I really think that just to working your mind, because at this level everyone knows how to play tennis, I think the thing that separates the best from the rest is just a mindset. It’S definitely process of life, you’re never going to have UPS all the time. So I think in those moments you just have to deal with it, the best that you can, which is to just keep fight for your dreams and just stay persistent and just persevere as much as you can, and I know in those moments you feel like you Can’T, but if you believe that there are good times ahead, those tough moments are definitely worth it, because I think it’s it build you as a character, and I think everyone should go through it because it just makes you stronger. I guess it is. I never really thought about being famous. My goals have been to just win as many Grand Slams as possible become number one in the world, but the ideas never really crossed my mind. I’M not complaining, though it’s been, it’s been a crazy ride this year and I can definitely get used to this feeling. Always do that always do that. I don’t know why I just I don’t know it is what it is courage, fighting spirit, I’m sure, I’m not the only person. That’S looked up to her inspiration to many many people, not only athletes, but what she’s done off-the-court to she’s, truly a champion and, above all, she’s very kind-hearted. She came up to me in the locker room, I’m really nice things which I will cherish for a really really long time, but yeah I’ve really strive to be like her and who knows, maybe I can be don’t ask me that cuz I have no clue I’ve. Never held money in my life, but visualisations are really working for me. It’S just crazy, like I have the biggest smile on my face, and it’s just that willingness of never giving up for me because, like I’ve said, I’ve been through a lot in my short career. Not only with NG but with relationships and just like awkward stuff, so I’m just really really glad that I never gave up on my dreams. Bassett for sure was very inspirational, Steve Nash, but it’s just it’s really nice for people to have that inspiration out of real. I’M so when I step on the court, I just really tried to show my best character and just to have that good example for other players, because, like I said many times, if I can do it, if Serena can do it, if Rodger can do it as Steve Nash can do it, then anyone could do it. What was the first part? Sorry, okay, no Canada is such an amazing country, it’s so Multicultural, so I had no trouble going up having Romanian parents whatsoever. That’S why I love my country, so so much and Tennis counted as well as I can’t thank him enough for everything. They’Ve done. I’Ve been with them ever since I was 10 years old and the program they have play sand had had in place as well has been doing really well, not only for me, but for many other Canadian athletes, so without their help. I definitely wouldn’t be here. Thank you, everyone. Thank you. Bye, successful,
