Jay Leno has formally requested conservatorship of his wife Mavis Leno’s estate, citing her struggle with dementia.

The petition, filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, outlines Jay Leno’s desire to establish conservatorship in order to execute an estate plan on behalf of his wife.

The filing specifies that Jay Leno seeks appointment as conservator solely to submit a petition for substituted judgment, aiming to ensure that Mavis Leno’s wishes regarding the distribution of her assets upon her passing are honored.

CNN has contacted a representative for Jay Leno seeking comment on the matter. In the document, the 73-year-old comedian and former “Tonight Show” host expresses his belief that Mavis Leno would execute an estate plan if she were currently capable of doing so.

Having been married for over 43 years, the filing notes that Jay Leno has predominantly handled their finances throughout the duration of their marriage and intends to continue doing so.

Despite Mavis Leno’s condition, the couple has been seen attending comedy shows together in Los Angeles in recent months.
