Thousands farewell George H.W. Bush on funeral train route
How’S, it look
George H.W. Bush’s casket will travel by train from Houston to Texas A&M on Thursday, marking the 41st president’s final journey to his resting place. The locomotive carrying Bush’s casket was painted to resemble Air Force One and the train’s sixth car has been fitted with transparent sides to allow mourners views of Bush’s flag draped coffin. Inside is an opulent reminder of the railway’s golden era, outfitted with sleeper cabins, dining rooms and lounges. Once arriving at College Station, a motorcade will take Bush to his presidential library, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Barbara, who died in April, and his daughter Robin, who died in 1953 aged three. It will be the eighth funeral train in U.S. history and the first since Dwight D. Eisenhower died 49 years ago. Bush, who died last week at his Houston home at age 94, was eulogized Wednesday at a funeral service at the National Cathedral.
