What Is The Trump Administration’s Mideast Peace Plan? | Velshi & Ruhle | MSNBC
Over the weekend, the Trump Administration released its long-awaited Mideast peace Plan called peace to prosperity. It’S an economic plan, the administration and the larger Muslim world, opposing the plan that sets out a decade-long timeframe, providing about 50 billion dollars to the region, 27.8 billion dollars. The largest chunk would go directly to Gaza and the West Bank. The rest is split up between Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, all of which has taken substantial numbers of Palestinian refugees over the past years, a transportation Network connecting which is basically completely on its own over here to the West Bank. It also includes a billion dollars worth of investment in the Palestinian in building up the Palestinian tourism industry natal. There are 179 different projects slated in Palestinian territory and neighbor countries all looking to address, among other things, but needs for electricity, water, telecommunications and Healthcare.. Beyond the economic numbers, the plan calls for new anti-corruption authorities to be developed for educational assistant, including Workforce training efforts in here the administration’s metrics for Success over that 10 year.. Double Palestinian GDP create over 1 million Palestinians, jobs, reduce Palestinian unemployment, to single digits and cut the Palestinian poverty in half. I want to discuss some of those joining me now is adjunct senior fellow at the American Security project and Palestinian human rights and anti-corruption Advocate Fadi. Elsalameen he’s also joining us. The idea that there would be something that will create prosperity for Palace piccolinos in Gaza from Prosperity is a distant memory. There is not a political solution to accompany this right now. Talk to me about the idea is this an incentive? Is it a bra, so it depends who you’re talking to the Palestinian perspective, some see it as economic solution and it has no political solution. But if you listen to some of the ministration official there isn’t, a political component Mission does include that 1967 borders. What is it exactly, and can we hear it from the president himself publicly official statement Carriage by the economic component, but I do believe that is not enough. You do need to put forward a clear political component to this, where how is this money going to be spent by whom everybody is knows that there is our Palestinian president now overstayed his by about 10 years? So there are allegations of corruption, surround him surrounding hand. So people are going to be asking: who are you going to give 50 billion going to distribute to what end? Is there going to be a Palestinian state? Will there be an independent decision on how to obviously spend this money in the creation of this, and in answering your questions about who gets the money? How does it get distributed? What it? What does success look like and in the political discussion, because Palestinian leadership does not support this effort? They didn’t they were not in. When is meeting AA not going to Bahrain for this meeting, you were invited to the conference Israeli and American and other businessmen, thought leaders and politicians, perhaps, but no Palestinian or Israeli officials are invited. If you are, your people are in a very dire situation. If you already spoke about the poverty and the high unemployment you’re being offered safety billion, it’s easy to say no, but it’s much more productive to say no. But this is what I like. This is what I’m asking for the position as it is right now by the current Palestinian president is not reasonable. He has to come forward to to state exactly what is he hoping for from the Trump Administration, and maybe he would ask for more money. Ask for more much clearer position on the two-state solution. Maybe he would ask for a revised statement on Jerusalem, I’m dealing with issues like unemployment, poverty and an Israeli occupation that has not stopped obviously here to watch the latest interviews and highlight you can get more MSNBC for free every day with our newsletters just visit, msnbc.com Newsletters to sign up now,
